My sweet girl turned 6 this month and I agreed to throw her a small party. She is finally to the age where she wants to choose her own party themes, so I was a little surprised when she chose an art party! I loved the idea and got right on with designing. I wanted to do a rainbow color scheme but instead of using all primary colors I wanted to incorporate some trendier colors like aqua and lime. All the items you see will be available to order in my Etsy shop.
Each guest had their own painting station set up at the table, complete with a handmade apron, canvas, paintbrushes, artist palette, and a mini canvas that served as a seating card. These items doubled as favors because the girls took these items home with them. My favorite decorative item was the table centerpiece. I am loving tassel garland right now! I may post a tutorial for the centerpiece later if anyone is interested. The food table was minimal, as there were only 6 guests, including the birthday girl. It only consisted of a cake, 6 sack lunches, and 6 drinks. I used a white sheet with hand drawn frames as a backdrop and more tassel garland and a printable banner for added drama and color. Once all the girls got settled we began painting! I led them in a step-by-step painting of a cupcake, “Painting With A Twist” style. After they were finished painting, I handed out the lunches and drinks and then we sang happy birthday and cut the cake. The cake was a huge hit! They were all so surprised by the “rainbow” inside. Then the girls were directed outside to run off some of the sugar and food coloring! All of the guests had a great time!
